Coffee Alamid

One of the most expensive coffees in the world comes from the Philippines.

Known as Coffee Alamid, it can only be gathered in limited quantities because it comes from the civet cat or "alamid" as called in the Philippines.

How the civet cat gets involved with coffee production is the subject of this video from Brown Heritage. The civet cat chooses the ripest coffee beans, and this is the start of the production process.

The process is actually a take-off from antiquity and shows how the mountain dwellers learn to select the finest berries. The modern production process however ensures that the purest beans reach its cafe connoisseurs and other meticulous customers from Japan and other parts of Asia.

Fortunately, the process ensures that the environment is clean, for the finest coffee beans can be gathered only from healthy surroundings. The Philippine distributor of the coffee can be found at: http://www.arengga.com/
